Research: Weis’ research interests are primarily focused on self-efficacy, emergency responders, and stress and trauma. Weis attended the UCCS Clinical Psychology Masters program and published a thesis, The Capability for Suicide in Firefighters, in the Suicide and Life‐Threatening Behavior journal.
Practice/application: Weis is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and licensed addictions counselor (LAC) and currently oversee the clinical operations and community training programs. the Institute focuses on healing stress and trauma in a multi-disciplinary approach and providing stress, trauma, and resilience education throughout the community.
Career info: Weis has been part of the UCCS community since attending the UCCS Clinical Psychology Masters program in 2012. After graduating, Weis worked at a crisis center and alongside emergency responders to support community mental health and emergency calls. In 2020, Weis officially joined the Lyda Hill Insitute as Director of Community Training and Empowerment, leading several training programs rooted in stress education and resilience. Within this work, Weis was selected as a finalist for the Mayors young Leader award in 2021. In 2025, the position grew to include overseeing clinical operations and advancing our presence in the Pikes Peak Region.
