Accepted International Students

Welcome to UCCS

Congratulations on your acceptance to the University of Colorado Colorado Springs! There are only a few more things to do before starting your studies here at UCCS. Just follow these steps and we will see you soon on the beautiful UCCS campus!

Step 1: Obtain your I-20/DS 2019

Complete and submit your I-20 request form and required financial documents.

Step 2: Claim your UCCS account

Once you are admitted to UCCS, you will receive an email from UCCS IT department for claiming your UCCS Account (Email and Student Account). Simply log in here and you will be able to start using your UCCS Portal (including your UCCS email account).

Step 3: Check your eligibility for scholarship

The scholarship application is located within the MyUCCS portal. The deadline for most of the scholarships is March 1. Check out the UCCS Scholarship website.

Step 4: Apply for your VISA

To obtain a visa, you must first pay the SEVP/SEVIS I-901 fee, which you can pay online. Information on how to obtain a student visa can be also found online as well. You need your I-20 or DS-2019 to pay the fee and begin the visa application process.

*Canadian Citizens do not need visas to study in the U.S. You do need to obtain an I-20 (or DS-2019) Certificate of Eligibility from the university that you plan to attend. At the time you receive the I-20 (or DS-2019) you will be registered with SEVIS, the student tracking system. You will be assigned a SEVIS number, and be required to pay the SEVIS I-901 fee.

Additional information on the SEVIS fee payment and visa application process are available at Study in the States.

Additional Resources

Living on campus

On-campus Housing: On-campus housing is popular and space is limited. Please apply early. If you are a freshman or an upperclassman wanting the traditional residential experience, look at the Summit Village Residence Halls. If you are over 21, an international student, or are transferring in with 30 or more credits, check out the Alpine Village Apartments.

Living off campus

Please note that these off-campus options are not affiliated with University of Colorado Colorado Springs. However, if you would like to live off-campus, please use these additional resources for off-campus housing:

*Please be careful about committing to a place without meeting the landlord and/or seeing the housing with your own eyes. Be aware that when you sign a lease you are signing a legal contract document that is binding and has penalties if you break it.

**Early arrivals and short-term housing: Early arrival students who will be living in the dormitory will be charged a nightly rate until the on-campus residence hall officially opens. Some students may choose to stay at a hotel near the University while they look for permanent housing. Here is a list of hotels near UCCS that may have UCCS special rates.

Plan Your Arrival

Please plan to arrive in Colorado Springs before your orientation date. Visit the UCCS Academic Calendar to find important dates for the current and future academic years.

Getting to Colorado Springs

From Colorado Springs Airport: Colorado Springs has a regional airport located approximately 24 kilometers away from the UCCS campus. If you will be flying to Colorado, we recommend that you fly directly into Colorado Springs. For your general information, the Yellow Cab Company operates a taxi service from the airport. It costs about $35 one way (not including tip) to our campus. The phone number for the Yellow Cab Company is (719) 777-7777. Uber and Lyft are also in operation at the Colorado Springs airport.

From Denver International Airport: If you will be arriving in Denver and cannot take a flight to Colorado Springs, you may take a shuttle for the approximately 110-kilometer ride from Denver to Colorado Springs, or a ride-sharing service such as Lyft or Uber. The nearest shuttle drop-off is the Academy Hotel on North Academy. It is 8.7 kilometers away from the UCCS campus. You will need to take a taxi to the UCCS campus. This can be difficult if you have a lot of luggage, so we strongly encourage you to fly into Colorado Springs.

Bus from the City of Denver: The bus ride from the city of Denver to Colorado Springs takes approximately two hours and the cost is $17.00 one way. The schedule can be found here. You can also check out the BusTang. Please note that BusTang service is only operated from Monday to Friday. It is not recommended that you use this option for arrivals in the evening.
