TAAP

Your Course Materials, Simplified.

Your TAAP Membership

The Textbook Affordability and Access Program (TAAP) provides all required course materials—digital and physical—for your enrolled classes at a predictable cost per credit hour.

You’ll have access to your materials on or before the first day of class, so you can start the semester prepared.

How TAAP Works

  1. You’re automatically enrolled and will receive your required course materials. No searching, no waiting.

  2. Choosing the right option depends on what matters most to you. As you decide, consider factors like convenience, cost, and accuracy of materials from day one. Reviewing your personalized value sheet can help you compare the total cost of TAAP versus purchasing materials on your own—so you can make the choice that best fits your needs and priorities.

  3. Stay enrolled or opt out—it’s your decision. You are enrolled in TAAP each semester, regardless of your previous semester. The charge will automatically be applied to your Bursar's account

TAAP is optional, so you can choose what works best for you

TAAP Questions

Is TAAP Right for You?

Some students may find it more convenient and cost-effective, while others may prefer to purchase materials on their own.

That’s why you have the option to opt out each semester.

Student FAQs

Explore commonly asked questions about TAAP.

Students consistently say the top three benefits of TAAP are:

  1. Convenience – no searching across multiple sites

  1. Accuracy – you get the exact materials your instructor requires

  1. Preparedness – everything is ready by the first day of class

These benefits help you start the semester on time and prepared.

You can also review your Personalized Value Sheet (PVS) in the TAAP portal to compare your TAAP cost with estimated retail pricing.

TAAP is often most beneficial when at least one course has higher-cost materials, but many students choose it for the convenience. accuracy, and preparedness.

If TAAP allowed students to choose only the classes with expensive materials, the cost per class would be much higher, and the program wouldn’t be able to offer discounted pricing.

Think of TAAP as a subscription or group rate: everyone pays a predictable cost across all their classes, so the overall price stays consistent—even when some materials are expensive.

Example:
If you’re taking 2 classes (6 credit hours total):

  • TAAP cost: $180 (6 × $30)

  • One class textbook: $300

  • One class: no materials

Even though one class doesn’t require materials, your total cost is still $120 less than buying materials separately.

TAAP is priced at $30 per credit hour.

Your total cost is based on your full course load, not individual classes. You pay one consistent rate and receive all required materials for all your courses.

The TAAP charge is automatically added to your student bursar account each semester—no upfront payment required. You can pay using financial aid, payment plans, or out of pocket.

Using TAAP (If You Stay Enrolled)

Materials are typically available before the first day of class.

You will receive email notifications when digital materials are ready and when physical materials are available for pickup or shipping.

You can pick them up at the UCCS Campus Store or have them shipped (update your address in the portal).

TAAP provides a mix of digital and physical materials based on your instructor’s selections and availability.

Course materials are provided in the format selected for your class and are not offered in multiple formats within the TAAP membership. If you prefer a different format, you may be able to purchase it separately through the TAAP portal (if available).

Instructors select the materials and format for their courses. While faculty are mindful of student costs, these decisions may vary based on course needs, availability, and teaching preferences. In many cases, lower-cost options are selected when appropriate to help keep TAAP membership pricing as affordable as possible.

Log in to your TAAP portal to view a list your courses and required materials.

You may authorize your financial aid to cover TAAP charges through your student portal.

To grant permission:

  • Select Grant Title IV Permission

  • Choose the FIN_AID form and follow the prompts

Your TAAP cost and materials are updated within 24 hours of any changes to your schedule.

For added classes, any new materials will be automatically ordered. You will receive notification on how and where to access them.

For dropped classes, if you have already received TAAP materials, you simply return them to the TAAP desk at the Campus Store within 7 days of dropping the class.

Most courses are included.

Excluded courses include Extended Studies, internships, independent study, thesis, dissertation, and similar course types.

Materials for these courses are not included in TAAP and nor are the credit hours part of the TAAP charge, but the materials will still be listed in the TAAP portal, where they can be purchased individually.

Once enrolled from a waitlist, your materials will be automatically ordered. You will receive notification on how and where to access them.

Opting Out of TAAP

Yes. You can opt out each semester. It is important to note that when you opt out, it is ONLY for that semester. Each semester, students are automatically enrolled in the TAAP program.

However, TAAP is all or nothing:

  • Stay enrolled for all your courses

  • Or opt out completely and purchase materials on your own

If you opt out, you are responsible for obtaining all required materials.

  • Out-of-pocket payments: After census date

Physical Textbook Accommodation

Disability accommodations are determined by the Office of Disability Services.

  • Physical textbook accommodations are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. They may be approved when a student’s documented disability demonstrates a clear need to remove a significant barrier and when no reasonable alternative is available.

  • Students are required to have a documented disability with Disability Services and participate in the interactive process to determine eligibility for this accommodation.

  • Physical textbook accommodations are not granted based on preference.
