Fueling Research at UCCS

Welcome to the UCCS Office of Research website. Research is central to the mission and identity of this great university. It is thus no surprise that in 2019, UCCS was classified as a "High Research Activity" university by the Carnegie Foundation. UCCS takes pride in being the only higher education institution in Southern Colorado that explicitly includes research as part of its mission. UCCS's reputation is enhanced by participation in research, publications, grants, performances, as well as national and international conferences and exhibitions. Our office is thrilled to support the surging research agenda at UCCS and is committed to fostering research and creative excellence among our entire campus.

Jessi L. Smith, Ph.D.
Professor of Psychology
"To discover, innovate, and problem solve in meaningful ways takes a community. At UCCS, our research community is replete with dedicated faculty highly acclaimed for their expertise and UCCS students benefit when engaging with our outstanding faculty. At UCCS, our faculty value knowledge production because it is the foundation for education. It is in the lab, the studio, the field, the community, and the classroom that our faculty inspire students' passion for research and creativity. In this way, our community is ever-expanding. The Office of Research aims to provide our community with the support to think, analyze, re-imagine, discover, and create. Join us!"
Jessi L. Smith is the Associate Vice Chancellor for Research
Dr. Smith got her start as a researcher right here at UCCS. She is a proud alumni. Her undergraduate degree from psychology afforded her the hands-on research experience that has resulted in a life long love of scholarship.
