Excel Mathematics Center

Message from the Director

The Math Center is your space to study on your own, work with friends, get help from a tutor, or just hang out between classes. We offer walk-in tutoring any time we're open (see the schedule below). You're also welcome to use our computers, which have a variety of math and engineering software installed on them. The Math Center also offers peer-assisted study sessions for just about every math class, as well as for a small number of computer science and engineering classes. Check out the schedule on the Peer-Assisted Study Sessions information page. We're here for you, so please stop by and let us know what we can do to help you get the most out of your math, statistics, and engineering classes.

My office is in the Math Center and my door is always open. You're welcome to drop in and chat any time. I'm happy to help with advising on math classes, or to talk about careers in math and your future plans. If you think you'd like to be a Math Center tutor or peer-assisted study session leader, I'm happy to talk about that with you, too.

The Excel Math Center is located in Engineering 233.

Dr. Jenny E. Dorrington

News and Announcements

Peer-Assisted Study Sessions

Peer-Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) are going on now, and will meet every week until finals. We have sessions for College Algebra, Precalculus, Business Calculus, Calculus 1, 2, & 3, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, and Probability & Statistics. In a session, you and your classmates will process the material from class through discussion of concepts & examples, and by working problems. The leader is there to get the discussion going, to provide insight, and to help out the group when needed. Sessions are a lot of fun, and can very likely help you earn a better grade in the class. Follow the link in the menu at the top of the page for the schedule and more information.
