Departmental Honors Track- Mathematics

The UCCS Mathematics Department offers a special track which leads to departmental honors upon graduation, to qualified students pursuing a BS in Mathematics. Admission to the honors track is by application only; see application form below. A letter of recommendation from a faculty in the Mathematics Department is required. Students should normally apply no later than the beginning of the first semester of their junior year.

Requirements for graduating with Departmental Honors in Mathematics:

  • Maintain an overall GPA of at least 3.0, and a GPA of at least 3.5 in mathematics courses.
  • Complete at least five 3 credit-hour mathematics courses numbered higher than 4000, with a GPA of least 3.3 in these courses.
  • Complete an undergraduate research project under the supervision of a mathematics faculty advisor. A written report based on the project must be submitted for approval to the Undergraduate Committee of the Mathematics Department.
  • Present the results of the above research project at a conference or a seminar.
