Staci Toma has a Master's Degree in Percussion Performance-Ethnomusicology minor from Indiana University and a Bachelor's Degree in Percussion Performance-French minor from Colorado State University. Currently on the faculty of UCCS, Staci teaches the West African Drum and Dance Ensemble and private percussion lessons. In addition, Staci teaches military youth on Fort Carson through the SKIES program and offers workshops for public and private schools. Past teaching experience includes adjunct teaching at Colorado State University, lectures at Indiana University, and percussion instruction for middle and high schools.
Staci performs often throughout Colorado, both in classical music settings and playing the music of other cultures. She is a founding member of Ubuntu, a marimba and saxophone duo, and the leader of TOMA percussion, a touring ensemble. She has won two concerto competitions on marimba and has performed internationally. When Staci is not making music, she enjoys ballroom dancing, martial arts, water sports, and spending time with her husband and two dogs.
