Individual mentoring experiences are a particular focus of the curriculum. Music students have the opportunity to work with renowned visiting guest artists and perform alongside faculty in the Peak FreQuency Creative Arts Ensemble. There are many opportunities to collaborate with Dance, Film Studies, Museum Studies & Gallery Practice, Theatre, Visual Arts and more.

Students can reach their highest potential as performers through our various ensembles, including Honors Ensemble, Jazz, Electroacoustic, Mountain Lion Athletic Band, VAPA Vocal, University Choir, Chamber Orchestra of the Springs, Music Theatre, and THEATREWORKS Student Productions.

Starting Fall 2016, we are excited to offer our newest degree, the Bachelor of Innovation (BI) in VAPA Music. This is a cross-disciplinary degree that combines music, engineering and business. A collaboration between the UCCS Music Program, the College of Engineering and the College of Business, this cutting edge curriculum combines academic studies, technical skills and professional training to prepare students for a variety of careers in the broad spectrum of music including technology, recording arts, management, the global business world and more. The degree is structured so that students gain a depth of understanding in music and a breadth of other arts disciplines, business skills, technology, innovation and entrepreneurship. The BI degree supports and aligns with the heart of the UCCS Department of Visual and Performing Arts mission to offer degrees that encompass: Breadth and Depth, Collaboration, Community Engagement, Creative Problem Solving, Critical Thinking, Diversity, Hybrid Practices, Social Entrepreneurship, Expanded Boundaries, and Technological Advancement.
