Human resource specialist leads compliance office
A human resources specialist with experience in public school and university administration is the new UCCS Human Resources Compliance Officer.
Kim Hennessy, previously a School District 11 staff member, began work this week and will lead efforts to ensure that UCCS employment practices comply with federal, state and regents hiring regulations.
Her appointment was announced by Susan Szpyrka, associate vice chancellor, Administration and Finance.
“Kim Hennessy brings to UCCS excellent human resource management experience and a thorough understanding of education,” Szpyrka said. “I am pleased she has joined the UCCS team.”
Since 2004, Hennessy has worked as a home school liaison for District 11, helping residents understand support functions for home school students, maintaining a database of home school students in the district and reviewing curriculum for truant students who are home schooled. Previously, she worked in real estate, as a personnel manager for the City of Naperville, Ill., as director of compensation and benefits for a hospital and nursing home group, legal counsel and affirmative action officer for Northern Kentucky University and as a senior business administrator at the University of Cincinnati.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in German and political science, a bachelor’s degree in education and a juris doctor degree, all from the University of Cincinnati.
