Entrance into this program requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, and all courses for the certificate must be completed with a grade of B- or better in order to earn the certificate. Courses are offered alternately online and on campus. Those interested in completing a certificate completely online or completely on campus should contact the School of Public Affairs before applying to set the right time of completion expectation. Course offerings can be found under the Current Students tab.
New non degree-seeking (unclassified) students must apply to the University for unclassified student status and pay the required $50 application fee. Current graduate degree-seeking students can pursue one or more of the certificates as part of their degree plan, and are not required to pay the $50 application fee.
Non degree-seeking (unclassified) students interested in pursuing a certificate should complete the online application and select their intended certificate(s) within the application, as well as submit official transcripts, showing an undergraduate degree has been conferred, to the Office of Admissions. Current graduate degree-seeking students should complete the Certificate Declaration and submit it to email@example.com. Official transcripts are not required for current graduate degree-seeking students.
The graduate certificate program offers an interim step between completion of an undergraduate degree and entering a graduate program. Credits earned in any SPA certificate program may be counted toward a Master of Public Administration degree; all graduate criminal justice, homeland defense and security intelligence courses can be applied to the Master of Criminal Justice degree. Please contact SPA@uccs.edu for additional information.
Students who wish to pursue a master's degree during or after completing the certificate program simply follow normal application procedures.
