Annual Bash the Bluffs 5k
Description of the event
Campus Recreation will host the 17th annual Bash the Bluffs 5K run/walk on Saturday, April 28that 9:30am. The event is in memory of Dr. Ed Burke (1949-2002), renowned researcher, former professor of exercise science at UCCS, valued member of the University community and a friend of many in the Campus Recreation Department. For the 2018 race year we are collaborating with new and exciting partners as Team Red, White and Blue (TRWB) and the Army ROTC, whose mission closely aligns with our Bash The Bluffs 5k. In Remembrance of Dr. Burke and the many veterans of our community, we run together for a common cause.
The course starts and ends at the Campus Recreation Center, the unique course topography providing scenic views of the UCCS campus, the city of Colorado Springs, Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, and the front range of the Rocky Mountains. This hilly course is mildly challenging for runners, but is stroller and dog friendly for walkers. Aid stations will be provided along the route with water and medical attention if necessary.
