Courses – Clinics – Special Event

In an effort to support the campus community in their outdoor endeavours, SOLE hosts a variety of educational clinics. These clinics are focus on skill and knowledge acquisition in the areas of bicycling, climbing, ski/snowboard maintenance, avalanche awareness and more. All clinics are free and open to students, faculty, staff, alumni, friends and family. No registration is required unless otherwise noted below - just show up ready to learn, ask questions and meet fellow outdoor enthusiasts!

Bike Maintenance - Monthly Clinic


Our student mechanics will take advantage of the SOLE. bike shop to teach you the fundamentals of bike repair, such as flat tires, shifting, derailleurs, & brakes. 1st Wednesday of every month staring in September. Bring your bike! Starts @ 6 pm!

Orienteering 101


Learn the basics of map reading, navigation, compass use and more in this entry level orienteering course.

Time: 6pm  

Basic Knots and Hitche


Learn practical knots for practical applications. We will learn climbing knots, hitches, and more!

Learn to Climb Series

$20 all $8 per

*Belay and Top Roping 101, *How to Lead Climb, *Anchor Building, *Introduction to Trad Climbing, *Knots Classes held on Wednesdays from 6-7 pm. Visit SOLE Desk for session dates.

Leave No Trace – Trainer Certification Course


During this 2-day Leave No Trace Trainer Course, participants will learn and teach the seven principles of Leave No Trace and discuss wildland ethics and sustainability. Upon completion, participants can teach and instruct Leave No Trace Awareness courses and aid a LNT Master Educator for LNT Trainer specific courses.

Social Meet N Climb


Meet fun, like-minded, adventurous individuals at the monthly SOLE Social. We will have music, eat snacks, climb, and mingle! 1st Thursday of every month starting in September from 7-9 pm!

  Special Events  

Bike Jam

Time: 9am - 12pm

Bike Jam is an annual UCCS event that encourages alternate methods of transportation, specifically bicycles. Bike Jam kicks-off our UCCS Bike Month Challenge, in which faculty, staff, and students can participate to win great prizes by riding for recreation or by commuting to and from UCCS
