Personal Training

The Personal Training program provides participants with both the tools and education necessary to accomplish personal health and fitness goals in a non-intimidating, one-on-one atmosphere. Whether you just decided to start exercising, you’re training for a sport-specific goal, or you’re planning on participating in your first 5K or triathlon, our personal trainers can help you achieve your goal. Campus Recreation personal trainers are certified through nationally recognized organizations such as the American Council on Exercise (ACE), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or the National Federation of Professional Trainers (NFPT).

Fitness Assessment

During a fitness assessment, one of our personal trainers will assess you based on the 5 components of fitness: cardiovascular endurance, body composition, muscular endurance, muscular strength and flexibility. Results obtained from the fitness assessment provide a helpful measure of your current fitness level and serve as a baseline to design an individualized exercise program based on personal health and fitness goals. Regular assessments are a great way to track progress over time. Our personal training team will compare your results to peers in your age group, using guidelines established by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). Fitness assessments are approximately 45-60 minutes in length. You also receive a complimentary fitness assessment with the purchase of a personal training package.

Every semester personal trainers offer free blood pressure and body composition screenings at the recreation center.

Personal training sessions

Sessions are available in packages of 1-18. (See below.) A complimentary fitness assessment is included in the 1-, 2- and 4-session package pricing. Larger packages offer one fitness assessment at the beginning of the program and one at the end. Personal training sessions are 60 minutes in length.

Team Training

Sometimes it’s better to have someone you know to keep you accountable! 2-person team training is available for clients who prefer to exercise with a friend. During a training session, the team will be performing the same exercise program. Complimentary fitness assessments will be completed separately for each client.

Registration

To register for personal training services, please print and complete the Health History Questionnaire (HHQ) below and submit to the Coordinator of Fitness. Once received, you will be matched with the personal trainer who best suits your needs within 5-7 business days.
