Training is required for any UCCS employee that generates or handles hazardous materials. This training will include information about waste identification, container labeling, and waste storage. This training shall also include emergency procedures, emergency system, and a review of the hazardous materials regulatory requirements set forth by EPA, OSHA and CDPHE.
Training is offered in a classroom setting in the fall prior to the start of the school year. It is also available on line (please note this is the same course as Lab Safety Training:
Once EHS receives the form you will be notified of enrollment in the course. The course will show up in your UCCS blackboard account - please allow 48 hours for this to occur. After you review the course material you will need to complete the online quiz. Upon successful completion of the quiz (70% or higher), you will receive a certificate. That certificate should be provided to your supervisor (digital copies are fine).

Initial Chemical Safety Training is required within six months of hire and then annually after that.
