Theoretical Orientation

Strength-based and relationship-focused approach with an emphasis on the biopsychosocial conceptual model to inform treatment interventions including DBT, CBT, and solution-focused modalities.

Clinical Experience

Specialization in assessment, diagnoses, and treatment interventions with older adults and aging families. VA Palo Alto internship rotations included the Geriatric Memory Clinic conducting neuropsychological assessments of older veterans; behavioral health primary care; outpatient psychotherapy services at the Geriatric Research and Education Clinical Center (GRECC); brief-solution focused therapy and cognitive assessments in an inpatient short-stay rehabilitation unit; psychiatric assessment and group psychotherapy at an acute psychiatric inpatient unit. Post-doctoral clinical experiences included clinical program implementation and outcome measurement in integrated care and outpatient community mental health settings. Education and outreach programming to staff in LTC settings on a range of topics including mental health disorders, behavioral and environmental interventions for dementia-related behaviors, functional assessment, compassion fatigue, and detection and reporting protocols for elder abuse and exploitation.

Supervisory Experience

Supervision of PhD and MA practicum students at the VA Palo Alto Healthcare System in neuropsychological assessment; supervision of psychiatry medical residents in psychological interventions and mental health diagnoses. Supervision of doctoral students at PACE in cognitive assessment, diagnostic formulations, treatment interventions, and interdisciplinary team functioning.
