Dr. Gavett may have an opening for a new Ph.D. student in his lab for the Fall semester of 2018. There is no need to email with inquiries.

Professor Gavett is board certified in Clinical Neuropsychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). He obtained his Bachelor's degree in Psychology from SUNY Geneseo and his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University at Albany, SUNY. He completed his internship in Clinical Psychology with a major rotation in Clinical Neuropsychology at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System, West Haven, CT. He also completed a two-year fellowship in Neuropsychology at the Boston University Alzheimer's Disease Center in Boston, MA. Prior to joining the UCCS Psychology Department, Dr. Gavett was an Instructor of Neurology at the Boston University School of Medicine and the Director of Neuropsychology at the Center for the Study of Traumatic Encephalopathy in Boston, MA. At UCCS, Dr. Gavett provides clinical supervision in neuropsychology to graduate students at the UCCS Aging Center and teaches a graduate course in Clinical Neuropsychology.

Dr. Gavett's research employs advanced psychometrics to measure changes in cognition over time for the purposes of understanding cognitive aging and neurodegenerative diseases (especially Alzheimer's disease), and how cognitive aging processes unfold in ethnically and racially diverse populations. His research interests also include neuropsychological test validity, differential diagnosis, and clinical decision-making. Dr. Gavett is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), Division 40 (Clinical Neuropsychology) of the APA, the International Neuropsychological Society, and the National Academy of Neuropsychology. He serves as a member of the Publications Committee of the National Academy of Neuropsychology (NAN) and previously served on NAN's Education Committee and the Ethics Subcommittee of the APA Division 40 Public Interest Advisory Committee.

Dr. Gavett is on the Editorial Board of Archives of Clinical Neuropsychology, Neuropsychology Review, and Developmental Neuropsychology.
