Graduate Teaching Fellowships

UCCS Engineering Building

For students enrolled in the mathematics M.S. and Ph.D. programs, the department offers a limited number of Graduate Teaching Fellowships (GTF's). A student receiving a GTF must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours of graduate-level courses each Fall/Spring semester and is required to perform certain teaching duties during the academic year as stipulated by the department. Normally such duties consist of teaching 9 credit hours of lower-level undergraduate courses over the Fall and Spring semesters. To estimate your cost of attendance please go to the Bursar's website and use the Estimate Your Bill tool.

M.S. Students: For a student who has not passed the comprehensive examination, the fellowship consists of tuition grant in the amount of $3,500.00 per semester (Fall and Spring semesters only). After successful completion of the comprehensive examination, the amount of the tuition grant will increase to $4,500.00 per semester. Students will also receive compensation for teaching 9 credit hours at the level of a Graduate Part-Time Instructor. The current GTF compensation for teaching is $1,350.00 per credit hour for MS Students.

Ph.D. Students: Compensation for Ph.D. students is a combination of a tuition grant and pay for teaching. The current amount of the tuition grant for Ph.D. students is $6,950.00 per semester (Fall/Spring). Students will also receive compensation for teaching 9 credit hours at the level of a Graduate Part-Time Instructor. The current GTF compensation for teaching is $1,600.00 per credit hour for a Ph.D. student.

The renewal of the GTF for the following year is contingent upon satisfactory performance of in graduate coursework and teaching duties.
