Elementary Principal, Retired
Judy Casey has been active in various teaching and leadership roles in public education in Massachusetts, Wisconsin, and Colorado. Since 1960, she has served as a classroom teacher, K-12 literacy director, and elementary principal. She has been active in literacy organizations at the local and state levels in Wisconsin and Colorado, serving as president of both state organizations.
Since retiring from Academy School District 20 in Colorado Springs as an elementary principal, Judy has supervised elementary student teachers and future principals at four local universities and the University of Denver. Her work with student teachers at the University of Northern Colorado will continue in 2015-2016.
She is active as a member of the Women's Foundation of Colorado Regional Steering Committee, the American Association of University Women (AAUW), Griffith Centers, and the Colorado Women's Hall of Fame. She has traveled to South Africa six times to work in the rural villages to support literacy development for young children.
Judy is an active member of the Colorado Springs Rotary Club (Downtown). She currently serves as Chair of Local Service Projects for the club and as Literacy Chair Rotary District 5470.
Judy is married to Dayle, an Episcopal priest, and they have two sons both of whom are involved in international work.
