International Transfer Students

The University at Colorado Colorado Springs welcomes international transfer students who are prepared to take advantage of the opportunities offered by UCCS.

Am I a transfer student?

Transfer Credit Policy

If your university is recognized by the Ministry of Education in your home country or if it is directly accredited by one of the US regional accrediting bodies, we will grant transfer credit.  Students must submit official post-secondary transcripts and course descriptions in English in order to receive transfer credit and each department has specific transfer criteria. UCCS will determine direct equivalency for any major required courses. Students can transfer up to a maximum of 72 hours of transfer credit from 2-year colleges and a maximum of 90 hours of transfer credit from all schools combined.

Transfer credit involves the student providing course descriptions and syllabi or course by course evaluation (if it is a foreign transcript) to their department. The student will work with their department adviser to determine if any classes transferred in meet major requirements. Please note that international students transferring to University of Colorado Colorado Springs from a community college in Colorado may look up course equivalencies here

SEVIS Transfer

Students currently attending a secondary or postsecondary institution in the USA will be able to transfer their I-20 from their current institution to UCCS. In the student's acceptance packet a Transfer Form will be sent to the admitted student. To complete the SEVIS transfer procedure, we must verify that the student is (was) in valid F-1 status at the school in the term preceding the student's transfer or preceding an authorized vacation. The form will be completed by the student's current international student adviser.
