Join Professor John Harner from the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies for a walking tour of downtown Colorado Springs. Learn about the changing built landscape of the city, including the revitalized core, landscape elements lost to urban renewal, and new projects planned. Join Eric Billmeyer, a Geology and Geography Instructor in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies, for a tour that explores mitigation and restoration strategies implemented after the Waldo Canyon Fire and the subsequent flood events that have impacted western Colorado Springs and the town of Manitou Springs. What does an Award-Winning Sustainability Campus Look Like? / UCCS Campus Tour (a.m. and p.m. tours offered)

2) Friday 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. Meet in front lobby of Antlers Hotel at 12:15 p.m.
Join Kevin Gilford, Assistant Sustainability Director of the UCCS Office of Sustainability, to learn about UCCS' award-winning sustainability projects and accomplishments. These include seven LEED Gold certified buildings with five pending, AASHE STARS Gold, 2016 Winner of the US Department of Education / Higher Education Green Ribbon School Award, Princeton Review Green School, and Sierra Club / Magazine Cool School. Also learn about UCCS' in-house dining and food services, Sustainability Wellness and Learning (SWELL) school, farmhouse, greenhouse, and a sustainability demonstration house. Field trip doubles as a walking tour of the UCCS campus. Limited to two groups of 12 (a.m. group / p.m. group). Cost: $5.00 (REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT REQUIRED).
