ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Courtney Bryan, a native of New Orleans, La, is "a pianist and composer of panoramic interests" (New York Times). Her music ranges from solo works to large ensembles in the new music and jazz idioms, film scores, and collaborations with dancers, visual artists, writers, and actors, and is in conversation with various musical genres, including jazz and other types of experimental music, as well as traditional gospel, spirituals, and hymns. Focusing on bridging the sacred and the secular, Bryan's recent compositions explore human emotions through sound, confronting the challenge of notating the feeling of improvisation. Nate Windham is a cocktail and spirits specialist who has been crafting mixed drinks in Colorado Springs since 1998. His latest venture is Brooklyn's on Boulder Street, the gin tasting room and craft bar of Lee Spirits Company. Wyndham was influential in crafting the recipe and process for the various gins created by Lee Spirits Company, founded by Ian and Nick Lee in 2013. Lee Spirits creates gin using the same processes as individuals in the early 1900s, resulting in Prohibition era gins that work perfectly for classic cocktails as they were written as opposed to changing the recipes to make them fit the gins of today.
