Solar Tables

Solar Tables

Fall 2013 - Energy
Matthew Driftmier

Project Overview

There are four solar tables spread across campus; these tables utilize solar panels which are installed on the “umbrella” of the table to power four standard electrical outlets and two USB outlets, as well as powering LED lights on the underside of the umbrella for 24/7 use. Power is stored in two Gel-Cell maintenance free batteries. Visibly mounted solar charge controller with digital readout for display of solar energy production show the electrical impact of the tables. These tables are a great way to not only provide a visible showcase of solar energy and its impact, but gives off-the grid gathering spots for the community to enjoy.
