Mandatory Training for New Faculty, Staff and Student Employees

The Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) mandatory training is offered in an online format through SkillSoft.
New faculty, staff, and student employees must complete this training. Employees must be set up in HRMS in order to take the training.

The OIE Discrimination and Sexual Misconduct training includes information on the Sexual Misconduct Policy, the Discrimination and Harassment Policy, the Conflict of Interest in Cases of Amorous Relationships Policy, and is compliant with the Sexual Violence Elimination (SaVE Act) and Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). This training focus on the real-life applications of these policies and the way in which cases arise in the classroom, workplace, and living environment. Specifically, with respect to the Sexual Misconduct Policy, OIE training discusses both quid pro quo and hostile environment sexual harassment. The training provides information on policy standards and applicable University, Federal, and State statutory and policy definitions of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, and other types of sexual misconduct.

Additionally, the training addresses discrimination and harassment based on protected class status, including several examples for the protected classes covered under the UCCS Discrimination and Harassment Policy. The training also provides information on the prohibition on retaliation and the mandatory reporting requirements for responsible employees. If you want to request an on-site in-person or customized training for your department, or if you have questions about the online training, please contact equity@uccs.edu or call the OIE main number at 719-255-4324.
