Julie Welsh Memorial Scholarship

Description

The Julie Welsh Memorial Scholarship is a need based award for continuing students at UCCS who have completed at least 12 credits of English and have a 3.0 Cumulative GPA. The award seeks to benefit single parents with a strong scholarly record and a primary focus in English. Students must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid before March 1st to be considered for the award.

Application Requirements

The following requirements must be submitted via the UCCS Scholarship Application in the portal.

Special Essay Topic

In fewer than 100 words please confirm your English major GPA, which can be attained through a DARS degree audit, and status as a single parent.

Award Status

Applicants will be notified of scholarship results in the beginning of May.

Patricia Gray Endowment

Description

The Patricia Ann Gray Scholarship is a need based award for continuing students at UCCS who have completed at least nine (9) credits of 2000-level or above English and have a 3.0 Cumulative GPA in those courses. Ideal applicants are older than the traditional student returning to college after a change in their life circumstances. As many as two students will receive awards ranging from $300-$1,400. Students must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid before March 1st to be considered for the award.

Additional Documents Required

Submit a current UCCS transcript that is clearly addressed to the Patricia Ann Gray Scholarship Selection Committee. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable, however they must include your name and UCCS Student ID number.

Award Status

The Rubin-Dorsky Essay Prize in American Literature

Description

The Rubin-Dorsky Essay Prize is designed to recognize the best student essays in American literature. These essays will celebrate the illuminative power of literary analysis, broadly conceived. Each academic year, a minimum of no awards and a maximum of two (2) awards will be given to acknowledge the finest undergraduate student efforts in this wide-ranging and comprehensive field of literary study. The winner will be honored at the UCCS Letters, Arts and Sciences (LAS) Awards Ceremony in May. In addition to receiving a certificate from the English Department acknowledging the award, the winner will be given a prize of $75.00.
