The Colorado Springs Undergraduate Research Forum (CSURF) is held in conjunction with the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado College, and Pikes Peak Community College. The event gives undergraduate students from all four institutions the opportunity to present their research and creative work in a formal academic setting and receive feedback from scholars and peers across the disciplines. CSURF also helps students polish the skills involved in formal academic presentations, job interviews, or continuing education through graduate/professional study.

Students who choose to participate in a poster session will be required to create a full-size poster detailing their research.   Poster dimensions should be:   36 inches high x 48 inches wide.

Posters will be placed in an open forum for roughly 1 hour during the event (typically there are 2-3 separate poster sessions during the Forum).   Within that Poster Session, presenters will be scheduled for a 20-minute presentation of their poster.

Upon check-in, poster presenters will receive their poster easel assignment number.

Ignite talks are a fast-paced talk format that is becoming popular around the world in academic and general public settings (see 

The rapid presentation style allows for "speed-geeking", where viewers can watch many presentations in a short period of time.  Presenters have 20 slides that advance every 15 seconds, for a total of 5 minutes.  Slides are mostly images.  This is great practice for sharing your work with a broad audience. 

This type of talk also requires even more preparation than a traditional talk, and you are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the coaching offered at your school. 

Ignite sessions may include talks from a variety of different disciplines, such as a chemistry talk followed by an art history talk followed by a feminist and gender studies talk.

Some works in the visual and performing arts and other fields (such as 3-D science projects and live technology demos) are best presented in this session type.  Select one of three sub-types: easel display, table display, or performance venue.  Please note that slots are limited and will have certain restrictions.  You will be required to submit a Visual, Performing, and Special Spaces form

A traditional academic-style talk.  Presenters will have approximately 15 minutes for their talk plus 5 minutes audience questions.  Talks will be grouped into sessions by the conference organizers.
