GTA Opportunities

Yes! If you are a graduate student with a strong desire to help others as a teacher or graduate teaching assistant, and you can commit to a semester-long (volunteer or for class credit) training session, then we would love to discuss GTA opportunities at UCCS. GTA candidates train with a personal mentor, and work directly with Excel Communication Center Director, Dr. Erica Allgood! Our GTA training differs from other teaching assistant training because this opportunity provides a hands-on, realistic, on-the-job, emersion into all that is involved in teaching recitation section(s) of COMM 2100-Public Speaking at UCCS. Upon successful completion of the training, GTA candidates may become paid graduate teaching assistants for the recitation section(s) of COMM 2100-Public Speaking at UCCS.

Every staff member at the Excel Communication Center benefits from:

  • A competitive wage
  • A professional, fun, collaborative work environment with the convenience of working on campus
  •  The opportunity to build your resume with job experience showing the life-long skills of communication, leadership teamwork, and peer mentoring!

To apply, please send your resume, two references, and a cover letter detailing why you want to be a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) to Dr. Erica Allgood, Director, eallgood@uccs.edu
