George Cheney Ph.D.
Prof. George Cheney has been appointed professor at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, effective January 2016. Previously, he taught at the universities of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Colorado-Boulder, Montana-Missoula, Utah, Texas-Austin, and Kent State. As part of four of those appointments, he held administrative positions. Working solo or collaboratively, Prof. Cheney has published 10 books and over 100 papers on the topics of organizational identity, professional ethics, workplace democracy, quality of work life, globalization, human rights, peace, and sustainability.
The recipient of numerous awards for teaching, research and service, Prof. Cheney also has consulted with a variety of organizations and served on several non-profit boards. At UCCS, he will be contributing to the professional communication curricula of the Department of Communication; making connections to interdisciplinary programs in innovation, ethics, and sustainability; and assisting with the academic and professional development of graduate students and junior colleagues.
