International Student Welcome and Check-In

Mandatory for all F-1 and J-1 students
Our International Student Welcome and Mandatory Check-in is a special event designed to provide international students with information and tools necessary to navigate their new home as smoothly as possible. . It is a weeklong event and the Wednesday sessions are mandatory for all new international students who are under F-1 and J-1 visas. Other international students are welcome to attend.

 International Student Off-Campus Shopping Trip 

4:30-10:00pm; Meet at Centennial Bus Stop

  • Join us for a shopping trip to Super Target to buy toiletries, food and school supplies, etc. for the start of start of new semester. Registration for this event will take place at the International Student Mandatory Welcome and Check-in.

International Student Workshop (iWorkshop)
iWorkshop is a semester long workshop aiming to provide key information to UCCS international students at academic, social and practical level.

  • On-Campus Employment

9:00 – 10:00 a.m; Dwire 272
What am I allowed to do as an international student? Can I work? What restrictions I need to be aware under my student status? Where to find an on-campus job? Come and learn the details and get your questions answered.

  • Planning the Future as Intensive English Program (IEP) Students

9:00 – 9:45 a.m; Dwire Language Center
This workshop is designed to help IEP students with a smoother transition into UCCS and introduce ways to make full use of of on campus resources in an IEP program and best prepare their admissions to degree-seeking programs.

  • Bank Accounts in the U.S.

10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.; Dwire 272
Are you confused about what bank account you should open? What is the difference between Saving accounts and Checking accounts? Come and learn the basic knowledge about U.S. banking system.

  • Health System in the U.S.

11:00 a.m. – 12:00 a.m.; Dwire 272
What should you do if you get sick? How does the health system work in the U.S.? Do I have to be covered by health insurance? What options do I have for my spouse or children? Come and get your questions answered!

GEO Open House
4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.; Global Engagement Office (Copper 9202)
The Global Engagement Office (GEO) invites you to go on a tour of the office and the services they provide for international students. Food and Drinks are provided. All the iWorkshop information will also be available during this event.

Rocky Mountain Roar Night
6:00pm-9:00pm.; Mountain Lion Stadium
March down to Mountain Lion Stadium with your classmates beginning at 5:45, or meet us there for a pre-game tailgate at 6PM. Game begins at 7. Show your school spirit and join us for a UCCS men’s soccer scrimmage. Before the game there will be tailgate games, free food, giveaways, t-shirts, face painting, and so much more!

What better way to start your first weekend at college than an evening of free giveaways, t-shirts, and prizes throughout the UC! Come and learn about the different offices and resources the University Center has to offer, as well as sign the official UCCS Class of 2021 banner!

Do you like bingo, free food, and TONS of prizes? Then head on over to Crave Rave Bingo following Premiere Night for the most intense game of bingo in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC)!

Come and join MOSAIC to learn how to use the public transportation system and explore the downtown Colorado Springs area! Meet at the MOSAIC office (UC 110).

Movie Madness ft. Beauty and the Beast

Sit under the stars and enjoy a great new release, Beauty and the Beast! Bring your blankets and chairs, while enjoying free popcorn, snacks, and drinks!
