MBA Academics & Curriculum

The UCCS MBA degree requires 36 credit hours of graduate (6000-level) business coursework (24 credits in the core and 12 credits of electives). The average completion time is 2-1//2 years for a student who is working while attending school.  Students are expected to complete their MBA degree within 5 years of starting the program.

In addition, some students may be required to take up to 9 credits of foundation courses based on previous academic background.  The foundation courses provide the knowledge and skills in accounting, economics and statistics necessary for advanced coursework in the core curriculum. Students who are required to complete the foundation courses take them concurrently after they are admitted to the MBA program.

Full course descriptions are available in the academic catalog. Core and foundation courses are offered both online and on campus. Most electives are offered in both delivery modes.

Foundation Courses (up to 9 credits):

Foundation courses may be waived based on prior academic work (subject to certain age and grade requirements). In some cases foundation requirements may be satisfied by passing a waiver exam.
