UCCS has built the #1 school in the country for launching business careers in soccer. This is why:

• We have exclusive partnerships and relationships with leagues and clubs in the U.S. and U.K. that get you immediate, hands-on experience to supplement your coursework - and career opportunities upon graduation.

• With just 23 students making the Soccer Management cut, you'll receive individualized attention and instruction from a world-class faculty earning their Ph.D.'s from prestigious universities.

UCCS' Soccer Management track is a specialized area of study within the College of Business Sport Management Program. Graduates leave with an AACSB-accredited business degree with a focus on soccer operations, ticketing and sales, event management and marketing.

Freshmen and sophomores supplement their core studies by working with local club, college and professional teams to help run events and provide other operational support.

Juniors conduct a semester-long practicum with the Colorado Rapids, during which they rotate through departments such as Marketing, Ticketing, Sponsorships and Operations. This is an exclusive opportunity open only to UCCS Soccer Management Track students.

Seniors leverage our unique relationships in the U.K., becoming eligible for placement in internship programs with the English Premier League or Football League Championship Teams.

Soccer Management applicants comply with the same admissions standards as other Sport Management students, which, as a Program of Distinction, has already established some of the highest academic standards on the UCCS campus.

Freshmen admission requirements:

  • 3.0 high school GPA
  • ACT or SAT scores: Math score of 20 (ACT) / 500 (SAT), English score of 19 (ACT) / 500 (SAT)
  • High school class rank (top 50%)
  • Supplemental application for the Sport Management program

Transfer admission requirements:

  • 3.0 transfer GPA
  • 'C' or better in College Algebra & English Composition
  • Supplemental application for the Sport Management program

The UCCS Soccer Management Track requires students to complete all four years of their academic study at UCCS.  This is due to the specific course and internship requirements associated with the offering.  In rare cases we will consider highly qualified transfer students, however they will be required to follow our course progression and this could result in four years in the UCCS Soccer Management Track.

Although many of our Sport Management students are prior or current athletes, this is not a requirement for the program.  You just need a passion for sport and the desire to pursue a career in the management of sports, soccer specifically.

Absolutely.  Many Soccer Management students are current UCCS or USOC athletes and have proven to be successful at both passions/pursuits.  Athletes and non-athletes alike are held to the same academic standards and expectations.

Accreditation means that a school has met a defined standard of excellence.  While most business schools receive some form of accreditation, only the top 30% of US based business schools and 5% of international business schools meet the AACSB standards.  The College of Business at UCCS has maintained AACSB accreditation since 1989.

We do not assign internships.  We have close working relationships with many managers in the sports industry (such as the Colorado Rapids). The program's Internship Manager informs students about upcoming internship announcements, counsels them on career paths, and follows their progress.  However, each student is responsible for pursuing an internship and securing it based upon their efforts.

Yes.  However, all internships must be approved by the program in order to ensure that the internship consists of meaningful work related to our internship requirements.
