UCCS Sport Management student, Byoungho Kang, talks about his internship abroad with Everton Football Club.
I am currently fulfilling a dream of mine as an intern for Everton Football Club. On the first day of the internship, the interns were put in rotations to work with multiple departments. This gave me an extensive understanding of the overarching business of Everton FC, as well as the multiple departments that make up the football club. I was very impressed to find out that Everton FC also makes a strong impact on the development of their surrounding community. Not only do they work towards bettering their club, but they also put a lot of effort into society awareness and growth.
After the rotational section of my internship, they assigned me to a four-week project designed to develop Everton's stadium tour program. Additionally, I invited a football journalist to the stadium and helped schedule interviews to assist him in creating stories about Everton FC. This journalist published three journals about Everton FC, which received 400,000 page views! Due to my work with the journalist, I was allowed to sit in the conference room after the match against Arsenal, which is definitely a highlight from the trip.
In the upcoming weeks I will be working on another project with the marketing department, which aims to develop Everton's international supporter club programs. This internship is and continues to be a dream come true, thanks to Everton FC and the Sport Management program!
