The Biotechnology Center is an outreach arm of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS) developed by the late Dr. James Mattoon in 1987. It supports local biotechnology enterprises evolving from community and academic collaborations. Together with the college of LAS, it also supports the Rocky Mountain Microbrew Symposium that represents biotechnology at its finest.
The mission of the Biotech Center is to advance local biotechnology start-ups and enterprises by supporting their research and commercial endeavors. The Biotech Center has wet laboratory space and equipment to share for this purpose. Please contact Dr. Wolkow if you would like to tour the facility. Local high school and community college educators interested in using the center or borrowing its equipment are also encouraged to contact Dr. Wolkow.
Research at the Biotechnology Center: current projects utilize techniques of molecular genetics, biochemistry and fluorescence microscopy.
