Mission

The UCCS Faculty Assembly Committee on Women was organized in 1992 by women faculty as an informal networking system. An existing network of women faculty who met regularly formed the core. Dorothea Olkowski served as the first chair. Some years later, under Abby Ferber, it became a standing committee of the Faculty Assembly. The committee is associated with the University of Colorado Faculty Council Women’s Committee and continues to address the concerns of women faculty, including:

1. Assessing the cultural climate of the university as it pertains to opportunities of women faculty for academic advancement, productivity and appropriate compensation;

2. Making recommendations for creating an academic environment that fosters the academic success of women faculty;

3. Working to assure fairness in the recruitment and retention of women faculty;

4. Developing support networks and recommending policy to address the needs of women faculty
