Dr. Kee Warner is the Associate Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Professor of Sociology at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS).   After heading up 2007 Diversity Strategic Planning process, he was appointed to an executive administrative role to lead campus-wide diversity and inclusiveness initiatives. His published research focusing on the areas of urban sustainability and environmental justice, includes a coauthored book, Building Rules: How Local Controls Shape Community Economies and Environments ( Westview, 2000) as well as articles in sociological and interdisciplinary journals in the United States and abroad. He was a Fulbright Fellow at the Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, Chile for year 2001. Warner emphasizes the application of social science concepts and methodologies for the benefit of local community initiatives. He teaches urban and community sociology, Chicano community, and globalization and development, among other courses. As a Chicano faculty member from the Southwest, Dr. Warner has been deeply involved with the Faculty Minority Affairs Committee. A strong proponent of interdisciplinary teaching and scholarship, Dr. Warner has been a faculty associate of the ethnic studies program since its inception and a founding member of the minor in sustainable development. He earned his Ph.D. in sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1993.   Prior to that he worked for seven years in urban planning and community development in inner city Denver..
