Following is important information concerning cancellation of classes or activities on campus. In the event of heavy snowfall, extreme weather condition, a mechanical system failure or some other condition that prevents the safe operation of the campus, classes and activities on campus may be cancelled or delayed.
The primary premise for weather-related cancellation of classes at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs is that the University will remain open in all but the most extreme circumstances. However, all university employees and students are urged to use their own discretion in deciding whether they can safely commute to class or to work. If personal health or safety is at issue in the decision, responsible judgment should be used. The authority to cancel regularly scheduled classes rests with the Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance. Every attempt will be made to announce this decision by no later than 6:00 a.m. each day for morning and afternoon classes or 3:00 p.m. for evening classes. Unpredictable weather or other unforeseen emergencies may result in a change to this timeline.
The official source for notification to the University Community regarding closures or delays is the University Police. The following means of communication are updated and maintained by the University Police Communications Center:

In the case of campus closure or delay, essential services personnel must report to, or remain at, work. Essential services personnel are individuals who are involved in critical health, safety and communication services and whose presence on campus is required during a campus closure or delay. The administration is responsible for identifying essential services departments. Hiring authorities are responsible for determining essential and non-essential services personnel in their units and for communicating this to their employees or colleagues.
It is requested that during a campus closure or delay all other personnel do not report to the campus.
