tomie hahn Tomie Hahn on Japanese Dance - February 25

A fascinating artist who combines traditional Japanese movement techniques from Noh and Kabuki styles with her own modern take on dance. Ms. Hahn will be on campus to work with our students on the Salome production and to lead two open workshops: a 10:00 am workshop/performance on traditional Japanese dance and a 2:00 pm workshop on banding, a new acting technique using enormous rubber bands. Open to all.
salome Strauss' Salome Film Screening - March 3
7:30 pm in Centennial Hall Auditorium
German composer Richard Strauss' lavishly decadent 1905 Salome opera based on the Oscar Wilde play. This classic 1974 performance directed by Götz Friedrich stars one of the greatest singers (and "Seven Veils" dancers) of the role, Teresa Stratas, and features the Vienna Philharmonic conducted by Karl Boehm. Presented on the enormous screen in Centennial hall.  Try to see this screening before Curt Smith's fascinating lecture later in the month.
Musician Colin McAllister - March 7
7 pm at the Heller Center for Arts & Humanities
Colin McAllister will be with us in the beautiful surroundings of the Heller Center. Albus/Ater is a concert of solo works for classical guitar. The pieces are loosely grouped around not just the simple definition of these words [Latin: white/black], but the myriad of other concepts to which they refer. McAllister's performance is a perfect musical expression of our exploration of hade and shabui.

The 2012 main stage production is sure to be a hit and tickets are limited. For reservations visit: www.theatreworkscs.org.
