Through socially engaged projects that bring diverse groups of people together my work centers on explorations of alternative education, slow living, and the social underpinnings of place. My work often utilizes didactic processes and systems for combining interdisciplinary fields into experiential performances, installations, time based work, happenings, events, and event series'. One major element in my work, for example, is the use of beer to research and explore our relationship to a city, to the landscape, to discover what we can learn about the science and craft of beer making. In Pub School I built a pop-up pub that highlighted aethetic components of brewing. In Art & Beer I invited local brewers to create beer inspired by artwork in a museum. In Beers Made By Walking we identified edible and medicinal plants on public hikes and these plants were used to create beers that celebrate the local landscape.
