A facilities expert with more than eight years experience is the new physical plant director at UCCS.
Robert (Rob) Dougherty, previously manager of facilities and events for Compassion International in Colorado Springs, was recently selected as physical plant director at UCCS. He began today. His appointment was announced by Brian Burnett, vice chancellor, Administration and Finance, following a regional search.
“We are excited that someone with Rob’s experience and talent will join the UCCS team,” Burnett said. “He will fill a key role on our growing campus as director of physical plant. I am grateful to the members of the search committee who worked to find great candidates like Rob to join UCCS.”
As physical plant director, Dougherty will oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the more than 400-acre UCCS campus and its more than 30 buildings. He will report to Gary Reynolds, executive director, Facilities Services.
Since 2001, Dougherty was responsible for maintaining the Colorado Springs-based Compassion International facilities and grounds. His responsibilities included all aspects of facilities management including custodial services, landscaping, building maintenance, event support, and coordination with new construction.
Previously, Dougherty was adjunct professor at Colorado Christian University’s School of Professional studies. He also has previous experience with several firms as director and manager of various operations.
Dougherty earned a bachelor’s degree in recreation administration from the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, and a master’s degree in organizational management from University of Phoenix, Colorado Springs.
