Noble earns Employee of the Quarter honor

The litany of state and federal funds in the Office of Financial Aid makes for a veritable alphabet soup.

But making sense of Pell grants, Smart grants, Teach grants and dozens of others is the kind of challenge that Lee Ingalls Noble, director, Student Financial Aid, enjoys. She rationalizes that mastering all of those rules, regulations and details is a necessary hurdle to meet her personal goal of helping students achieve a college education.

Noble’s commitment to helping others and her knowledge of the complex financial world of federal, state and private scholarships and grants led to her nomination by co-workers for Employee of the Quarter honors. She was awarded the honor earlier this week.

“Lee is truly an expert in her field and a tremendous asset to this campus,” Jennifer Fisher, scholarship coordinator, and Mark Hoffman, student employment coordinator, wrote in Noble’s nomination. “Lee has a passion for her work which she passes on to her colleagues and subordinates.”

Noble has five direct reports and the department employs 30 student workers. She manages $48 million in federal, state, private and university funds and maintains four years of budgets and spending.

Noble joined the Office of Financial in 1976 as a student employee and the full-time staff in 1978. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in sociology from UCCS in 1976 and 19778 respectively.
