  • Founded in 1965 and located at the foot of Pikes Peak.
  • Fastest growing campus in Colorado and among the fastest in the nation.
  • Offering 29 Bachelor’s degrees, 18 Master’s degrees, and 4 Ph. D. programs.
  • Includes 6 academic colleges on campus: business; education; engineering and applied science; public affairs; letters, arts and sciences; nursing and health sciences
  • More than 7,500 students enrolled in Fall 2006, representing 50 states. 
  • 514 faculty and 392 staff.
  • Current annual budget is $107 million, with campus expenditures yielding $203 million per year to the local economy.
  • U.S. News and World Report named UCCS a top Western public university.

  • UCCS has a diverse student body: consisting of 18% ethnic minority students, 59% female students, and 41% male students.
  • 94% Colorado residents, 5% Out-of-state and 1% International students.
  • 76% of the student body is seeking undergraduate degrees, and 24% are in graduate programs.
  • More than 300 active military personnel and 30 U.S. Olympic athletes pursue higher education at UCCS.
  • UCCS undergraduates are, on average, 24 years old; graduate students are 36 years old.
  • Approximately 15% of undergrads live on campus, the other 85% commute.
  • Degrees awarded (July 1, 2004 to June 30, 2005): 1,025 Bachelor’s, 553 Master’s, and 7 Doctoral degrees.
  • Top three majors among students who earned a bachelor’s degree in the last year were Psychology, Communications, and Nursing.
  • Estimated 2006-07 tuition (full year, 15 credit hours per semester): In-state tuition: $4,066*. Out-of-state tuition: $15,300. Fees: $1,048. *College Opportunity Fund deducted.
  • Room/Board: $6,734-8,586 per academic year.
  • The Chancellor’s Leadership Class (CLC) is a highly selective undergraduate honors program designed to develop effective leaders. To allow students to focus their full attention on the program, CLC provides a $3500 scholarship renewable for up to four years.
  • Athletic programs: UCCS competes in 12 intercollegiate varsity sports in NCAA Division II.
  • UCCS offers more than 100 student clubs and organizations.
