The Office of University Relations is a division of University Advancement and is responsible for helping to create a positive image of the university with audiences important to the university’s future. The office works closely with campus offices such as the Office of New Student Recruitment, the CU Foundation and the CU Alumni Association to communicate the university’s high-quality and commitment to serving students and the community.
Specific areas of assistance for faculty include:
Media Relations. The Office of University Relations serves as the university’s official communication link to local, regional and national media. In many cases, University Relations staff serve as official university spokespersons. In other cases, University Relations staff work actively with faculty to publicize their work at the university or to link media members in search of faculty expertise. Faculty members are encouraged to work in coordination with University Relations when contacted by the media or to develop publicity plans to highlight faculty research, service and teaching.
Internal Communications. University Relations is also responsible for the university’s internal communications. The office produces Communique, a twice-monthly on-line newsletter for faculty and staff. University Relations also works in coordination with Computing Services to maintain the university web site and an all-university calendar of events.
Publications and Special Events. University Relations assists in the production of various all-university publications such as the Bulletin and the commencement program. For assistance with publications or to inquire about the graphic standards of the university, contact University Relations.
