Instructional Design and Assessment Consultations:

Advice on best practices in course design to enable innovative teaching strategies tailored to your teaching style and context. Learn to design effective syllabi, lecture presentations, discussions, assignments, exams, webpages and learner-centered activities, course management systems and course-level assessments to match your course objectives. Tap UCCS surveys or create customized one for useful program and classroom data.

Individualized Teaching Development Consultation:

We provide personalized feedback on teaching for faculty and TAs including confidential classroom visits for coaching and advice, suggestions for teaching strategies, problemsolving for classroom and online issues, learning outcomes assessment strategies, We will also provide direct support and guidance for choosing and using technology effectively and appropriately in your course design and teaching.

Online Teaching:

We support faculty in the use of the eCollege course management system for completely online courses and as a supplement to their traditional classes. This includes training to design instructional strategies for online teaching and learning, preparing online materials and technical support for faculty and students for an effective and experience for you and your students.  For more information, please visit the Online Teaching web pages

eCourse: this is your choice for a course offered wholly online.

eCompanion : This is a tool for hybrid courses, or those not exclusively offered online but have some or all of the classes held on campus. Your traditional course might benefit from the eCollege features such as an asynchronous threaded discussions, an online grade book and quizzes, a web-based syllabus, assignments, and document sharing and synchronous chat rooms for collaborative work. Instructional Services

Turnitin Training:  The campus has a subscription to the plagiarism deterrence system Turnitin.  It is a web-based service for which there is a  username and password.  Please call x4108 or email kandrus for training and access.

FREE MULTIMEDIA SERVICES This information is also available in a PDF file.

Our capable and friendly multimedia assistants will complete the following jobs for faculty on a first-come, first-served basis. Please allow a minimum of 5 working days to complete the work. We can also teach you to do these tasks for yourself.

CONVERT IT!

If you have old or fragile media (VHS tapes, photographs, overheads, printed or typewritten texts, drawings or other media, they can be preserved through a digitizing process which also makes them available for powerpoint, word-processing, podcasting, or web posting.

CLIP IT!

We will make clips of segments of published media to be used under the constraints of the education fair use regulations. We can also edit and optimize video and audio for downloading (podcasting) and streaming delivery.

GRAB IT!

Recording audio or video or screen record lectures for posting on web or documenting teaching for dossier. We support Camtasia and Screenflow, screen and audio recording applications that runs as you use other software (Powerpoint, graphics, or specialized applications for your discipline). The resulting output is a movie of what appeared on the screen with the recorded sound. For more information, see: http://www.techsmith.com
