Welcome! This page is intended to make your first couple of weeks at UCCS less stressful and more productive. The links below have been gathered on this page according to when you will need the information and where to go for it. If you would like a list of resources arranged by topic, follow this link.
Sign contract, take oath (Colorado constitution), and most importantly, get your Employee ID number which is a six-digit number that you will use on official forms (including parking pass application below). NOTICE: you will receive your first paycheck on Sept. 30th. It will be deposited directly into your bank account -- no paper checks are issued for regular faculty.
Public Safety, in the ground floor of the Parking Garage next to Columbine. You need it for everything. If you join the credit union, ENT (they have a branch office in the University Center), you can use it as a cash card.
Beginning August 24, all cars parked on campus need to display a pass. Get it in the same place that you get your ID. Options to parking on campus ($500/yr or pay by the semester) are to park in lot on N. Nevada and take the shuttle up the hill, or park in the neigherborhood across Austin Bluffs. People on campus only on certain days (M/W, for example) can get partial passes.
your login ID is also your username for email, and they are automatically created when all of the HR paperwork has been processed. You will need this ID (which is your first initial and 7 letters of your last name) and password for logging into the classroom podium and any campus computer. It is also your eCollege login. Tenure-track faculty and instructors will also be added to the online campus directory, but lecturers will not. For IT Help, call 719-255-3536 or helpdesk@uccs.edu. Their website has instructions for network access, configuring email, hardware recommendations, etc. http://www.uccs.edu/~helpdesk/
If you have a startup package, the computer setup should be arranged with IT by the departmental administrative assistant (secretary). If you don't have a computer in your office when you get here, it's probably on the list; come to the TLC and use our PCs or Macs.
Same as computer access, but you should check to make sure. Keys must be ordered by someone with signature authority.

The Teaching Goals Inventory is a tool from the University of Iowa that is intended to help you and clarify goals and objectives for your course. These should be listed on your syllabus.
An example of a good syllabus may be found here: coming soon!
Campus policies that you should reference on your syllabus:
There are several required statements that should be inserted into your syllabus regarding students with disabilities and those serving in the military:
"Disabilities Services: Students with disabilities should turn in their disability verification letters within the first two weeks of class. For further information, contact Disability Services, Main Hall 105, 255-3354. For more information, see the Disability Services page: http://www.uccs.edu/~dservice/
Military students: If you are a military student with the potential of being called to military service and/or training during the course of the semester, you are encouraged to contact your UCCS course instructor no later than the first week of class to discuss the class attendance policy. Please see the Military Students website for more information: http://www.uccs.edu/~military/."
If you think that you might want to use Turnitin to deter plagiarism, you should state that on the syllabus using language something like: "All work submitted to this class will be checked for originality electronically using Turnitin.com. You will receive the class ID and password to register at the website "http://www.turnitin.com" where you will upload the digital file of your paper. The format for naming your file should be ITusername_assign#number.doc, so that a filename of the first assignment by Kathryn Andrus will be kandrus_assign#1.doc." More information on Turnitin and the UCCS license may be found at: http://www.uccs.edu/~tlc/Teaching/teaching_technology/turnitin.html
See below for syllabus text about using eCompanion (course management system) to supplement your course.
Students can only print when Please see the information about Pawprints (campus printing management system) at http://www.uccs.edu/~pawprints/ and consider asking for assignments to be printed double-sided (the default in the labs) or submitted in electronic form. If faculty and staff print in the lab, it will be charged to their department. Printers in faculty offices are supported by IT, but supplies and paper are purchased by the department.
Copies can may be done through the departmental copier that takes a departmental code, or at the printshop which takes a speedtype (departmental account number). The Printshop is in the Campus Services building (east end of campus) and their website is: http://www.uccs.edu/printsh and you can send your files to them as attachments to be copied and picked up later.
