Sustainability Tours:

Members of the UCCS Sustainability Office are available to lead campus tours that highlight sustainability initiatives. Highlights include a focus on LEED certification and high performance buildings, including the Recreation Center and Science Engineering, introduction to our single-stream recycling program, and a visit to our organic garden. Please call us at 255-3089 so that we can design a tour that meets the needs of your group.

Volunteer Opportunities

Sustainability incorporates the ecological, economic, and social equity perspectives of every aspect of our lives: where we go to school, where we work, and where we live. Successful sustainable development requires all of us to be involved. One way to get involved is to volunteer for one of the many non-profit organizations in our community that promote sustainability.

If you are a UCCS student, VINCE (Volunteer Information Network and Community Exchange) provides a one-stop service to match your skills with a community organization seeking volunteers. You must first register to use the system. Organizations seeking UCCS student volunteers must also register with VINCE.

The Kami Project

The Kami Project

The Kami Project: There are over 2 billion children in the world, of these children, 1 billion live in poverty. Children bear the biggest burden of poverty: Every year, 1.4 million children die from lack of access to safe drinking water and adequate sanitation. By next year, over 20 million children will have been orphaned by AIDS. Over 100 million school aged children go uneducated every year, which creates a cycle of poverty for future generations. A worldwide epidemic of poverty is spreading around the world, but there is hope. We have the power to make a direct difference and provide opportunities to children.
