UCCS seeks to foster a culture of sustainability throughout the university's extended community.
We will be a campus:
The Office of Sustainability unites the efforts of faculty, staff and students to support development and lifestyles on campus and in the community that sustain natural resources and protect the environment, ultimately ensuring the ability of future generations to meet their needs too. This office explores ways in which UCCS can incorporate a triple bottom line emphasizing economic, environmental and social criteria to inform university decisions.
The Office of Sustainability was established as a result of collective efforts from student, faculty and staff sustainability groups and was approved by the UCCS leadership team in October 2005. The Office of Sustainability is housed in the Campus Services Building and the Director of Sustainability, Linda Kogan, reports to the Vice Chancellor of Administration and Finance. Several student employees work for the director on a variety of sustainability initiatives.
