The Sustainability Council is a formal commmittee composed of faculty, staff, students, and a community member that advises the administration on sustainability issues. As well, the council directs sustainability assessments, such as AASHE's STARS; reports and plans, such as the Campus Sustainability Report and the Sustainability Strategic Plan; and other activites, such as strategic planning for meeting CO2 reductions in support of the ACUPCC.
This year, the council has decided to focus on improving sustainability in the curriculum. The goal is to increase ecological literacy, awareness of climate issues and understanding of the many dimensions of sustainability. Proposals under consideration include an all-campus book, general and college-specific educational requirements, and faculty and staff workshops. If you have any ideas about improving sustainability in our curriculum or want to get involved with the council, please contact Linda Kogan.
