Jerry Phillips, Ph.D., Director

I have a B.A. in chemistry from the University of Colorado and a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Colorado State University. I led a cancer research team for 25 years and was involved in science education before coming to UCCS in Fall 2006. I teach Principles of Biochemistry (Chem/Biol 483) and Biochemistry Laboratory (Chem/Biol 486/586). I also teach martial arts--interested?

How the human body functions, becomes diseased, and is repaired is of great interest to me.  Also, how European dark chocolate and coffee function in my body occupies a fair amount of my time too.

Science! My interests range from particle physics to cosmology, but I particularly enjoy the chemical perspective.  Stop on by and let me show you the view!

Greg Dalberg, Staff Assistant VI

I received my BA in biology at UCCS in 2004, and I am currently working on my master's degree. I taught biology lab from 2003-2006 and Introduction to Chemistry at CTU in 2006. Besides my interest in biology and chemistry, I'm into all things British and I'm addicted to Wikipedia.

Sara Goldman, Staff Assistant III

I like Physics, math, and coffee. I collect exotic reptiles.

I'm going for my BS in chemistry, and we'll see where that leads...I'm thinking med school or grad school in chemistry. Other fun things I like include practicing martial arts, watching old kung fu movies, new kung fu movies, middle aged kung fu movies, and playing lots and lots of music.

Ihsan Larsen, Staff Assistant III

I graduated from CU Boulder last year, and now I am here to answer all your science questions untill I hear back from dental schools.

Alena Laput, Staff Assistant III

Hey, all! My nickname is Lenaput. I'm a biology major who loves exploring and deepening her Catholic faith. If you have any questions, just ask!

Seth Levulis, Staff Assistant III

I'm a chemistry major who wants to go to a good grad school. In other words, there's nothing interesting about me because I spend all my time studying. Just kidding, chemistry can actually be a good time. If you disagree come to the SLC and let's see if we can't change your mind.

I am a Biology/Chemistry double major, and I used to play professional baseball. If you have science or baseball questions, I'm your guy!

Preston Williams, Staff Assistant III

Hey Everybody. I am a senior here at UCCS. I am double major in Chemistry and Biology, and have a minor in Physics. I want to go to medical school and do medical research as my career. I have also been on the track team for three years, and throw discus and javelin. So if anyone needs help in solving problems or throwing an object a long distance, come see me!
