The legislative branch is the Student Government’s policy-making body. The legislative branch is composed of 8 senators-at-large, 5 student deans and 2 student directors. Each member serves a one year term beginning June 1 after elections until May 30th of the following year. The legislative branch has final approval over the Student Government’s budget and all monies to be spent out of that budget. There are other budgets that are submitted to the SGA that the legislative branch also has final approval over. One example of this is the student newspaper, The Scribe. The legislative branch has committees that review and adjust these budgets before they are sent to the senate for approval.
