Student Government Elections Ballot

Ballot Initiatives:

Referendum I - Student Health Center Fee Change

The UCCS Student Health Center provides quality medical care for illnesses/injuries, preventative health visits, and accurate health education information so that students can make informed choices regarding their health care. Students are encouraged to take advantage of The Center's convenient location and reasonable charges. Student fees and co-pay revenue fund the Student Health Canter.  "Health care for the student body" is more than just a slogan, it is indicative of The Center's interest and concern for students and their futures. This fee change proposal will allow the Student Health Center to continue with its normal operations for 2008-2009.

No changes will be made to the current full-time student fee structure of $25 per fall and spring semesters and $12.50 during the summer semester. Are you in favor of implementing a mandatory $2.00 per credit hour Student Health Center fee for all part-time undergraduate students taking 11 credit hours or less and part-time graduate students taking 5 credit hours or less during the fall and spring semesters and $1.00 per credit hour during the summer semester?

Referendum II - Solar Energy

Will you support the installation of energy producing solar panels, a clean and renewable energy source, on campus buildings? The total cost to students would be a student fee of $5 per student, per semester (NOT per credit hour), through spring semester 2013. This will reduce our dependency on fossil fuels and ultimately lower electricity costs for the campus.

  • Solar panels will reduce toxic emissions, conserve natural resources, and protect your health.
  • UCCS receives over 300 days of sunlight per year, ensuring that our university will obtain the most solar energy at the least cost.
  • This will establish UCCS as a leader among universities and colleges nationwide, in the promotion and implementation of renewable energy and sustainability.
  • Throughl the enactment of this Student initiated Fee for a renewable energy purchase, we are honoring our duty to protect and preserve our natural environment.
  • Students will serve on the committee to select how these funds are used to install a solar system.
