Emerging Leader Fellows Program

Fellowship Information

The ELF program will run during Spring 2008 and consists of conducting a project with your Mentor, shadowing her/him at significant decision-making meetings, and attending two campus events. If you are a faculty member, you will receive a one-course offload in order to give you time to participate. If you are a staff member, a customized plan to give you time will be created by you, your supervisor, your Mentor, and the Chancellor.

Benefits to you include a one-on-one relationship with a Mentor, access to meeting various leaders at important meetings, completion of a meaningful project that exercises your leadership and organizational skills.

1. Hold-the-Dates

The Dates for the Program include the following. Fellows are required to attend all Retreats.

Opening Retreat - 8:30 am -2:00 pm on Date to be determined Thursday, January 17, 2008

Closing Retreat - 1:00 pm - 5:30 pm on Thursday, May 29, 2008

Midterm Retreat - To be determined by Fellows

The Opening Retreat will include a session on confidentiality, because Fellows will participate in meetings and activities involving confidential matters.

2. Fellows' Activities

Fellows will do three activities:

  1. Project

  2. Shadowing your Mentor at meetings with such groups as the Executive Team, CU-system-level groups, etc. Please hold time in your schedule for some pre-briefing and de-briefing by your Mentor around the meeting. These briefings are very valuable.

  3. Two campus events that you do not normally attend. This activity shows you the richness of our scholarly and student-centered environment, and it exposes you to aspects of the campus that are out of your normal circuit. Attend student plays or sporting events, films, lectures in departments far from your own, or other such activities.

3. Your Project

You will indicate your first, second, and third choices for projects on your application, and if you are selected, every effort will be made to place you in one of those three projects. You will work closely with your Mentor on this project. The Project includes some Deliverables needed by your Mentor.

4. Fellows' Deliverables for the ELF Program

Fellows are responsible for some Deliverables for the ELF Program overall.

  1. Learning Contract - You will write your Learning Contract during the Opening Retreat and you will use it as a guide to your activities throughout the semester. It will be submitted to your Mentor and to Radha.

  2. Presentation - You will give a short presentation on your Project during the Closing Retreat on the afternoon of Thursday, May 29, 2008.

  3. Final Report - You will write a Final Report on your activities, including all aspects (Project, shadowing, events) and turn it in to Radha by Friday, June 6, 2008. She will place your Final Reports in her comprehensive report to the Chancellor.
